As God-called ministers of the word, we understand our stewardship responsibility to God concerning the ministry of the word He has entrusted to us. A valiant effort to fulfill that ministry in a God-honoring way means as God’s men we make the decision week in and week out to set aside deceptive practices to obtain what God has for us. It means we make no attempt to exercise the non-wisdom of what works when we consider communication. It means we treat His word as it is, invaluable to the soul of man. It means we give ourselves over and over again to this: finding the truth of the text and making it known to mankind, then trust the truths of God & the God of truth to make the changes in the people He wants to make. We are excited this year to be hosting the Ministry of the Word Conference once again. We hope that you will make plans to attend and be edified and encouraged to grow in your role as a faithful proclaimer of the truth, God’s Holy Word.
THE PREACHERS
Bro. Jerry Locke is the former Pastor at Lake Worth Baptist, in Lake Worth, TX. Bro Locke served the church for 33 years as Pastor and now serves as Pastor Emeritus and Staff Evangelist. He maintains an extensive preaching & writing schedule and specializes in Still a Baptist Conferences, Stewardship Conferences, Revivals, and Missions Conferences. Biannually Lake Worth Baptist Church hosts a Preaching Conference where Bro. Locke, Bro. Darrell Sparks, and others give college level instruction to men in ministry that want to refresh their skills on expositional preaching.
Bro. Josh Merrell has been the Pastor at Southside Baptist Church in Weatherford, TX since 2011. Under his leadership the church has experienced a revival of biblical fundamentalism. Bro. Merrell is a gifted Pastor and preacher. His knowledge of homiletics and his powerful delivery combine to instruct, inform, and inspire God’s people into action. Bro. Merrell has taught Advanced Homiletics at Heartland Baptist Seminary in Oklahoma City, OK.
Bro. M.W. Lawrenz has been the Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Sapulpa, OK since 2012. Under his leadership the church has experienced growth in every area of ministry. Bro. Lawrenz is an advocate for Text-Driven Preaching, a philosophy of preaching which encourages the content of a sermon to capture the substance (subject matter), structure (the inspired outline) and the style (emotive content) of the biblical text it comes from. Bro. Lawrenz teaches Biblical Hermeneutics at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City, OK.

THE PURPOSE
The Ministry of the Word Conference is in conjunction with the Oklahoma Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship but is much more. It is the attempt of Bible Baptist Church and Pastor M.W. Lawrenz, to invest in the ministry of the man of God. We genuinely want to be an encouragement and a help to the man of God. The preaching is built to challenge and encourage you, the books and fellowship are meant to build into you (Edify), the instruction is meant to help you sharpen areas of concern in preaching the word of God. It is the conviction of Bible Baptist Church that the preaching of the word of God is one of the pre-eminent ministries of the Pastor. Our conference is built around the conviction that the Apostles came to as they were being pulled in different directions in regard to legitimate ministries. They saw their God-ordained role as Prayer and the ministry of the word.
Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
All Pastors, Staff, & Missionaries attending the conference will receive a complimentary book of their choice from those available on the subject of Pastoral ministry or Homiletics. All Ministry wives will also receive a complimentary book on the subject of ministry.
